Workforce Training Programs & Incentives

Workforce Training Programs

We offer programs and incentives for employers looking for potential job candidates to make running a business a little less stressful.

Federal Bonding Program

The Federal Bonding Program is an incentive program that allows employers to hire at-risk job applicants with limited liability. A Federal Fidelity Bond is a business insurance policy that insures the employer against theft, forgery, larceny or embezzlement by the bonded employee. At-risk job applicants are:

  • Ex-offenders
  • Recovering substance abusers (alcohol or drugs)
  • Welfare recipients and other persons having poor financial credit, or who have declared bankruptcy
  • Economically disadvantaged youth and adults who lack a work history
  • Individuals dishonorably discharged from the military
  • Anyone who cannot secure employment without bonding services

DoD SkillBridge Program

CareerSource Gulf Coast has partnered with local military installations to offer the DoD SkillBridge Program. This program allows Active Duty Service Members - within 180 days of separation – the opportunity to complete an internship opportunity in their desired industry/career of choice.

This opportunity comes at NO cost (for compensation) to the employer.

Our role is to help connect Transitioning Service Members (TSMs) with employers in Bay County. Our goal is to provide TSMs experiences that develop the skills and training necessary to gain employment after separation from the military, as well as provide area employers with world-class talent for training and potential employment.

If you are interested in registering your organization as an internship location, fill out the Employer Intake Form.

FloridaFlex

Formerly known as Quick Response Training, FloridaFlex is a state program that offers partial reimbursement to relocating or expanding businesses for expenses related to job training new or existing employees after jobs have been created or retained. This program is designed to be flexible to respond quickly to corporate training objectives. Once approved, the business provides a company match of cash or in kind contributions. The business decides what training is needed, who provides it and how it is provided. This program is administered by CareerSource Florida.

Work Opportunity Tax Credit

The Work Opportunity Tax Credit is an incentive to private, for profit employers to hire welfare recipients and individuals from other special groups.

Incumbent Worker Training (IWT)

This state program is an expense reimbursement grant for customized skills upgrade training available for existing for profit Florida businesses. Businesses with 25 or fewer employees receive priority and, as with the Quick Response Training Program, priority is given to businesses in targeted industries and in distressed urban and rural parts of Florida. This program is administered by CareerSource Florida.
