CareerSource Gulf Coast Case Manager Valentina Webb was recognized as the region’s Workforce Professional Champion at the statewide Workforce Professional Development Summit Oct. 23-25.
Webb, who works in the Apalachicola office of CareerSource Gulf Coast, earned the state award due in large part to her passion for serving the full community, according to Kim Bodine, Executive Director of CareerSource Gulf Coast. “Val has a knack for connecting with people of all ages and inspiring them to set and achieve goals,” Bodine said. “It is evident that she genuinely wants to do everything in her power to help her clients become successful.”
For more than four years, Webb has served as a case manager for CareerSource Gulf Coast. As someone born and raised in the small town of Apalachicola, she personally knows many of the people she is serving and the challenges they face every day.
Her passion for her hometown leads her to spend countless hours to volunteering at multiple organizations. In fact, this year she was named the 2017 Volunteer of the Year by the Apalachicola Bay Chamber of Commerce. In the past, she served as the Director for Franklin County Little League Cheerleading for seven years, the Philaco Women’s Club, The Apalachicola Center for History, Culture and Arts and the Hillside Coalition of Laborers for Apalachicola. Webb currently serves as either a Board member or Advisory Council member for the following organizations: Gulf Coast State College Foundation, Apalachicola Main Street, Bring Me a Book Foundation, SAVE OUR SHOTGUNS (historical home preservation) Apalachicola, Franklin County Extension Office, Covenant Big Bend Hospice, Elder Care Community Council of Franklin County, and Margaret Key Library. Webb is also very involved with her church, The Tabernacle of Faith International Ministries and serves as a Chaplain for the local hospital in Apalachicola.
“Val is a tirelessly dedicated employee who not only loves her community, but values coming to work each day with a positive attitude,” said Maria Goodwin, CareerSource Gulf Coast Director of Operations and Webb’s direct supervisor. “Her passion is contagious, and we are fortunate to have her serving folks in Franklin County.”
